Aims and Summary

This module aims to provide students on non-law degree programmes with the knowledge, understanding and skills to identify and deal with a range of legal issues they are likely to encounter in business. This will include an understanding of how the law works and the ability to apply the law to a variety of scenarios.

The module will develop students understanding and critical awareness of the legal structure governing business organisations. This module draws on knowledge acquired in the area of business law and more particularly in commercial law, corporate law, contracts law between professionals, competition law, intellectual property law and bankruptcy law.

Intended Module Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module, the student should be able to:

  1. Critically analyse and determine the necessary tools and techniques to set up a business and understand business, commercial, corporate, contract law between professionals, competition law, intellectual property law and bankruptcy law within the French perspective. Students will also expect to understand the fundamentals of corporate sustainability and the risk of bankruptcy.
  2. Critically debate current legal issues facing organisations;
  3. Critically evaluate the necessary business skills required in a business environment and key partner features.
  4. Manipulate and apply the legal concept with accuracy
